MANILA – A magnitude 4.9 earthquake was recorded in the waters off Davao Occidental at 5:12 p.m. Sunday, the state seismology bureau said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake’s epicenter was 114 kilometers off Sarangani Island, Davao Occidental in the Celebes Sea.
The quake was felt at Intensity I in General Santos City; Alabel & Malungon, Sarangani; and the town of Tupi, South Cotabato.
PHIVOLCS has yet to give further details about the quake.
The US Geological Survey, meanwhile, recorded the quake’s strength at magnitude 5.2.
Sunday’s quake followed the magnitude 4 tremor which hit the area on Saturday.
